Cedars-Sinai taps AI to pinpoint patients for clinical trials

Cedars Sinai taps AI to pinpoint patients for clinical trials

Every provider knows that finding enough patients to take part in clinical trials is tough and involves a painstaking search. Bobbie Rimel, MD, a gynecologic oncologist and associate director for gynecological clinical trials at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, found a way to search through records for patient matching for much better recruitment and ROI -- working with Deep 6 AI.

“[Deep 6 AI's software] knows ‘I think this is what you mean here.’ That’s incredibly powerful," Rimel said. "Say it nine different ways, in a different font; it’s close enough.”

The correct inclusion of all patients with the same type of cancer also ensures that those who fit the criteria are given the opportunity to take part in a clinical trial -- and that may the biggest reason of all to apply AI in this case.

“This is a pretty powerful opportunity for hospitals,” she said.

Texas Medical Center selects Deep 6 AI for accelerator

Deep 6 AI is one of 23 digital health startups participating in the Texas Medical Center Accelerator (TMCx). TMC is the world's largest medical center with 58 member institutions and a central research institute that provides a campus-wide R&D network, a central IRB for conducting multi-site trials, and 10 million annual patient encounters. The TMCx program lowers the barriers of access to hospital stakeholders and key opinion leaders across TMC. Read about Deep 6 AI and TMCx.
